he administration of Bekasi, West Java, has set aside Rp 100 billion (US$7.5 million) of its 2017 budget to cover health care for low-income residents.
Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi said on Monday that low-income residents could receive free treatment at 37 hospitals, both private and city-owned, using a health card issued by the city administration.
“I hope poor residents can get better health care with the cards,” Rahmat said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
He added that the people eligible for the cards were Bekasi residents with a monthly income of less than Rp 3.6 million, verified by the Bekasi Social Agency.
