Qatar remains committed to developing the sport of gymnastics at grassroots level, Ali Al Hitmi said yesterday.
Al Hitmi was addressing the participants of an International Judges Course organised in collaboration between Qatar Gymnastics Federation (QGF) and International Gymnastics Federation (FIG).
"We want to pay attention to all segments of the sport be it coaching courses or workshops that deal with refereeing issues. We want to continue to build this sport in Qatar," Al Hitmi, President of QGF, said.
"We have staged several international training courses for coaches and referees and this edition is a continuation of that process," he said.
Officials from Jordan, Egypt, Syria, Tunisia, Singapore, China, India and Korea North, Hungary besides Qatar are featuring at the January 19-20 symposium.
"These workshops and courses are a must when you want to spread the right kind of message. I want Qatari officials to make use of this opportunity and raise their profile. International competitions are held all over the world and expert hands are needed all the time," he said.
"Learning from top International Gymnastics Federation officials is the best way to go about this," he said.
Last month, QGF hosted a Level 3 FIG Academy for Men’s and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics from December 3-10, 2016.
It was the 248th Academy overall and the 110th for Artistic Gymnastics since this coaching education programme began in 2002.  With the conclusion of this Academy, the participation in Academies has now surpassed 4,000 different coaches from 124 countries.
