Any fans of wine - whether you want to know more about how it's made, the etiquette around consuming it, or simply want to drink it - will love the new lodges at Tinwood Estate. Already a popular spot for wine tasting thanks to its elegant glass-fronted tasting rooms, the estate has just opened its first rooms - meaning you can actually spend the night on the vineyard itself.

Accommodation

The rooms - three raised cabin lodges overlooking the vineyard - are tastefully decorated in three distinct schemes, but all with the same luxury rustic feel. Think exposed stone bathrooms (with jacuzzi baths and walk-in showers) natural wood walls and, of course, cork. Naturally, each room also features a state-of-the-art wine fridge stocked full of bottles produced on the estate, for your enjoyment throughout your stay. The real selling point here though is the proximity to the vineyard itself; you're practically sleeping on top of it. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors open up onto a veranda overlooking vines as far as the eye can see.

Location

Tinwood is located next door to the world famous Goodwood Estate, making it the perfect stop for anyone attending one of their many festivals or sporting events. It's also ideally placed on the edge of the beautiful South Downs National Park, and not far from the cathedral city of Chichester or the sandy beaches of Witterings, so there's plenty to explore. There are plenty of highly rated pubs and restaurants nearby too, and Tinwood's staff are happy to make recommendations and reservations for you.

Eating and drinking

Of course, you're really here for the wine. The estate first started planting in 2007 and since then has built a reputation as one of the finest producers of English sparkling wine, including The Estate Brut, the Blanc de Blancs (our personal favourite) and a delicious Rosé. Book onto a tour to get up-close and personal with the grapes, try the different varieties in the tasting rooms or simply enjoy a bottle in the privacy of your own lodge.

No wine is complete without a cheese plate, and Tinwood puts together a cracking one, plus guests at the lodges will be woken with a fantastic basket of breakfast treats come morning. The estate doesn't have an on-site restaurant, so you're best visiting one of the local pubs or restaurants for dinner - and there are plenty to choose from.

Bonus point

Guests staying overnight get a membership to The Kennels clubhouse at Goodwood Estate for the duration of your stay, which features two dining rooms and a golf course.

Lodges start from £175/night including breakfast for two people and membership to The Kennels at Goodwood. For more information and to book, visit tinwoodestate.com.
