CHENNAI: Police arrested three people on Monday in connection with the murder of the actor Vijay fans club president, Imayam Ravi. The accused murdered Ravi, 48, and dumped his body in river Orikkai near Kancheepuram on January 11. They have been identified as Seenu, 26, Babu, 25 and a juvenile.
The Kancheepuram town police have registered a case. A court in Kancheepuram remanded two of them in judicial custody, while the juvenile has been sent to the observation home for boys and girls in Chengalpet after producing him before the juvenile justice board magistrate.
A senior police officer said, they solved the case with help of a CCTV footage from the nearby signal and shops near the Kancheepuram bus terminus.
“They did not plan to kill him. While robbing him of his mobile and Rs250, they hit on his neck. After that, they pushed him into the river. He drowned,” the officer added.
Ravi had visited Kancheepuram to supervise the hoarding arrangements for the Vijay film ‘Bairava’.
