Pretoria – Five men robbed a jewellery store in the Forest Hills mall in Pretoria on Monday afternoon, Gauteng police said.
They entered the NWJ outlet shortly after noon, Captain Bonginkosi Msimango said.
“The suspects were holding a bag and inside that bag they had hidden a hammer. Once they were inside they used the tool to smash the display cases in the store.”
They made off with an undisclosed amount of jewellery.
“No shots were fired and we are currently investigating a case of business robbery,” he said.
NWJ outlets at the Musgrave centre, Durban, and in Richards Bay, were robbed in similar fashion on Sunday and Friday.
NWJ's Vanessa Schreyer on Monday said the company was working with police and as such, could not provide details on the string of robberies across the country.
"We are working with the police and obviously the safety of our staff and customers is the most important aspect for us. We have put more security measures in place and we don't want to advertise the details surrounding these," she added.
