Yahoo News HBO "exploring" a Game of Thrones spin-off series
Our prayers to the Old Gods, the New Gods, The Seven, The Lord of Light and the Many Faced God might finally have been answered, as Game of Thrones could get its very own spin-off.
The main show is down to its final two seasons, both of which are going to be shorter than usual and with Game of Thrones pretty much being the biggest show in the world, it's going to leave a lot of fans clamouring for more.
Speaking at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour, Casey Bloys - president of HBO's original programming - said: "All I can say is that we're exploring it. We don't have any scripts, we're not even close to saying 'Oh, let's do this.'
"But it's a big enough property that we would be foolish not to explore it. It's a really rich world. We'd be foolish not to look at it."
There's been chitter-chatter about the premise of a prequel delving deeper into the world of Westeros before. George RR Martin certainly has the material to feed one, however co-showrunner David Benioff dismissed the idea.
He said: "At a certain point, especially if it's a serialised story, it falls apart and loses its heat and its momentum because there's a carrying capacity even a world the size of ours has.
"When you reach that carrying capacity and you try to push it further, people start to wonder when this is going to be over and hope that it will be over soon so they can move onto the next thing. That's not what we ever wanted."
The creators of the show have admitted that they have plenty of options for creating more in the world of Westeros, and Emilia Clarke denied rumours about her own spin-off then dubbed the idea "boring".
Digital Spy ranked all of the possible Game of Thrones spin-offs we'd love to see, including George RR Martin's personal favourite Dunk & Egg, a series about Robert Baratheon's rebellion and even Fear The White Walking Dead.
