KAMPALA. Inspector General of Police, Gen Kale Kayihura, has not been replaced, police have said.
Mr Andrew Kaweesi, Police spokesperson, said Gen Kayihura has not been replaced with Brig Ronnie Byarya, Director Internal Security Intelligence Organization (ISO) as it has been reported by a section of the media.
Mr Kaweesi, while addressing journalists on Monday, said Gen Kayihura and his deputy, Mr Martin Ochora, have contracts running up to November 2017.

“There are unfounded stories that are circulating on social media and some stories have been reported by newspapers and radio stations that IGP and his deputy have been replaced. That is not true because there contracts are still running and have not written to anyone that they no longer want to serve in those positions,” Mr Kaweesi said.
Mr Kaweesi said some media houses reported that him and other officers at the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) are vying for Deputy IGP job.
He said such stories are intended to cause panic and confusion in the police force and warned that the affected officers may take legal action against authors of those stories.
