Rs 10.58 cr released for Model Village Shah Balode in Samba: Abdul Haq

JAMMU: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq in reply to a question by Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal today informed the House that the Government has released Rs 10.58 crore for creation of different facilities for model village Shah Balode (village Mananu and Dhora) in Samba district.

He said so far Rs 7.70 crore have been utilized on creation of infrastructure in the village from the financial year 2010-11 to 2016-17. Besides, 48 works are in the progress in the village on which Rs 3.4 crore has been expended, said the Minister.

Regarding the construction of Block Development Council buildings in the old and newly created blocks in Samba, the Minister said that presently there is no such proposal under the consideration of the Government neither any specific scheme is available which envisages construction of these buildings.

However, under 13th Finance Commission Awards which did not lay any specific recommendations on the use of FC grants to strengthen PRIs, the Department has outlined some components for execution. These include, construction of Panchayat Ghars, repair and renovation of existing Panchayat Ghars, creation of assets, development of e-Panchayats, construction of Common Facility Cenres, construction of Panchayat Bhawans, construction of Block Development Council Buildings and infrastructure of Divisional Level Training Institutes. These activities were planned and provision for construction of 143 BDC buildings was kept in the erstwhile blocks (Jammu=66 and Kashmir=77) at the rate of Rs. 30 lakh with total provision of Rs. 42.90 crore, Minister informed.

Mr. Rajeev Sharma raised the supplementary and urged for speedy completion of model villages in Akhnoor constituency.
