Universal Robina plans more factories in Southeast Asia

Philippine food and beverage maker plans to spend less than it did in 2016

Universal Robina is planning to build new plants in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam this year.

MANILA -- Philippine snack and beverage producer Universal Robina said it planned to spend 7.2 billion pesos ($144 million) this year mainly to expand factories across Southeast Asia.

The programmed capital expenditure is lower than the 7.8 billion pesos of actual spending last year, when the company set a budget of 9.5 billion pesos.
