New Delhi, Jan 16: Shiromani Akali Dal MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Monday launched a scathing attack on Navjot Singh Sidhu on joining Congress ahead of assembly elections in Punjab. The wife of deputy chief minister of Punjab Sukhbir Singh Badal took a dig at Navjot Singh Sidhu and said that some people wish to put their feet in three boats. She was referring to delay in Navjot Singh Sidhu’s decision over joining Congress.

“Some people have their feet in three boats, sometimes BJP, Congress and why not go ahead a little into Pakistan,” said Harsimrat Kaur Badal. She unleashed the attack on Navjot Singh Sidhu and alleged that he has joined a party which wrecked a genocide on Sikh community. She said, “Congratulations to Sidhu saab who calls it gharwapasi to go to a party that wrecked a genocide on the Sikh community.”

She also attacked vice president of the Congress Rahul Gandhi over his comment on drug issue in Punjab. She said, “Ye Rahul Gandhi, mujhe lagta hai khud sabse zyada nashe karte honge jo inhe Punjab ke 70 per cent log nashedi lagte hain.”[ I think he(Rahul Gandhi) must be drugs that’s why 70% people of people in Punjab appear drug addicts to him].

In an earlier development, after much anticipation former MP from Amritsar Navjot Singh Sidhu finally joined Congress. He attacked the Akali Dal for allegedly ruining the state. While addressing a press conference in New Delhi, He said that he has come back to his roots and termed it his “Ghar Wapsi” to Congress.

Navjot Singh Sidhu said that he and his family were connected to Congress from last 40 years. “My father served for Congress for 40 years,” said Navjot Singh Sidhu. In a veiled attack on the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Sidhu said people will throw away the Badals from power. “Bhaag baaba Badal bhaag, kursi khaali kar, Punjab ki janta aati hai (run, Baba Badal, run, leave the chair, the people of Punjab are coming).”

The election has turned interesting in the state with Akali Dal-BJP alliance, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party claiming to clinch the power in Punjab. Punjab will go to polls on February 4.
