Navjot Singh Sidhu joins Congress before Punjab polls, Twitter has field day with 'Comedy Nights with Rahul'

Navjot Singh Sidhu, former India cricketer and former MP has joined Congress just before the elections in Punjab. He was formerly a member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and on Sunday he officially joined Congress ahead of the Punjab Assembly polls. The former BJP MP broke the news on Twitter saying, “Beginning of a new inning. On the front foot…….. Punjab, Punjabiyat & every Punjabi must win !!!”. What he didn’t expect was that people soon started throwing his old videos criticizing Indian National Congress on his wall. There were people who criticized his decision and questioned how could he join a party that was largely responsible for the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

However, the funny bone of the netizens and Twitterati went on an verdrive when Navjot Singh Sidhu met with Congress Vice- President Rahul Gandhi. Apparently, Navjot Singh Sidhu had wanted to join the party in the presence of Rahul Gandhi and had waited for his return to India. The pictures that were posted of Rahul Gandhi welcoming Navjot Singh Sidhu sent the Twitterati into frenzy. They just couldn’t stop trolling and putting up memes and gags of the two. An old video of Sidhu calling Rahul Gandhi ‘Rahul Baba’ and urging him to attend school also surfaced. The video has left people once again laughing at the opportunistic attitude of politicians just before the elections. One Twitter user wrote, ““Congress hires Navjot Singh Sidhu to laugh at Rahul Gandhi’s jokes.” (Rahul Gandhi’s demonetisation and Padmasana jibe at PM Narendra Modi makes him a butt of jokes again on Twitter)
