Improvements from Open Streets last year to this year's event?

Part of the success story is us not having to change a lot of the formula of the product. It's a testament to how well the event is already working. Apart from maintaining the same consistent standard, we added Longmarket Street, so it's no longer just Bree Street.

The feeling from the attendees today is that this should be taking place more often...

We are working on turning Open Streets into something that's more than just an event, something more often and more of a cultural activity that opens all streets in Cape Town. We've been successful in Bree, so has Langa and Mitchells Plain, old Bellville, and we are working with Transport Cape Town to create more of a network.

When is the next event?

The April 2 Open Streets will be in Mitchells Plain. We had a great time last year and the community really came together in a beautiful way. The feedback was overwhelming.
