A recklessly-driven Mercedes car sped away after hitting five parked cars in Sector 44 this evening.

Sources said the incident took place around 6.45 pm.

Karamjeet Singh, whose two cars were damaged, said he came out of the house and saw the car driver fleeing. “Both my cars were parked outside the house when the Mercedes driver hit them,” he said. One of the vehicle owners tired to chase the car, but did not succeed.

The registration number of the Mercedes was noted down by him. “The car had a Chandigarh number and was of silver colour,” the sources said.

The police were informed about the incident, who visited the spot. Residents said from the way the car was being driven, it appeared the driver was drunk. — TNS
