Dehradun, January 15

Uttarakhand BJP spokesman Vinay Goyal released a video footage of the March 18 proceedings of the state assembly before mediapersons here today. He said the Congress-led government had fallen on March 18 albeit Speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal flouted all norms to favour Harish Rawat.

Goyal, while addressing mediapersons in Dehradun, said the Congress-led government tried its best to ensure that the visuals of the March 18 Assembly proceedings do not come in the public domain but the BJP managed to get these from its well wishers.

Goyal said the video clearly show that the Harish Rawat government lost the majority in the House during the budget session on March 18. “But The Assembly Speaker, who belongs to the Congress, flouted all norms to save the Harish Rawat government through wrong means,” he said.

He said it was the first time in the history of democracy of the country that the legislators were disqualified from the state Assembly in seven days. While the Congress may have managed to manipulate the proceedings at the Assembly, the people of the state were eagerly waiting to give a suitable reply to the party in the Assembly elections.

Goyal charged the Congress with trying to pressure state election officials and forcibly removing BJP’s banners and hoardings in Dehradun city. “We have met state election officials and informed them about the situation. We have sought suitable action,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister’s media adviser Surendra Kumar said the Uttarakhand BJP should also show the video about how they took rebel Congress MLAs in a charted flight outside the state. The BJP must also release the details of the money they used in horsetrading of MLAs last year.
