GCA declares Rs. 3 crore for Ranji team in addition to Rs. 2 Crore as prize money from BCCI

Ahmedabad: In a historic moments yesterday at Indore, the Gujarat Ranji Cricket team under Captaincy of Parthiv Patel won the prestigious Ranji Trophy. Gujarat snatched the trophy from Mumbai by defeating it by five wickets. President of Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) Shri Amit Shah congratulated the winning team for their historic achievement.

Mr. Parimal Nathwani, the Vice President of Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) and Shri Jay Shah, Joint Secretary, made special trips to Indore two times during the match to encourage the team members. On the final day of the match, they witnessed the final moments and cheered up the team members. They also met the players in the dressing room after the victory and patted each of them.
In appreciation of the brilliant performance of the victorious team members, as desired by GCA President Shri Amit Shah, the Association has declared Rs. 3 Crores prize money for the team. This is in addition to Rs 2 crore from BCCI. Gujarat Ranji Team, which had reached final in 1950-51, had lost to Holkar’s team at Indore. Parthiv’s team, which played Ranji Trophy matches of 2016-17 series, played the final match at Indore and won the match thereby creating history.

With Ranji Trophy victory, GCA’s Team has won all the match formats in domestic cricket i.e. T-20, 50 overs match and larger format with winning Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, CK Nayudu Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy etc.

Large number of supporters from Gujarat remained present during the exciting final match including GCA Secretary Shri Rajesh Patel, Joint Secretary Shri Mehul Patel and representatives of all the five district cricket associations under GCA. Besides them, all the Selectors -Pathik Patel,Brijesh Dave,Hiralal Tandel,Bharat Mistry and Bhavik Patel – remained present. Team Manager Dhawal Shah, Chief Coach Vijay Patel, Ranji Coaches Hitesh Majmudar & Pallav Vora, Physiotherapist Dr. Parthav Patel, Trainer Praful Raval and Video Analyst Bharat Parmar, also were there with the team throughout.

The final match, which looked slipping away from Gujarat couple of times during the match, was precisely won on the back of Parthiv Patel’s captain knock of 90 and 143 runs in 1st and 2nd innings respectively. The weak fielding by Mumbai fielders, particularly dropping of few catches, proved costly to them. Parthiv Patel, thus, brought name and fame not only to himself but also to the GCA and cricketing fraternity of Gujarat.

The winning team included Parthiv Patel (C), R. P. Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Manpreet Juneja, Priyank Panchal, Bhargav Merai, Samit Gohel, Chirag Gandhi, Rujul Bhatt, Axar Patel, DhruvRaval, Rush Kalaria, Ishwar Chaudhary, Mehul Patel, Hardik Patel, Chintan Gaja and Karan Patel.
