 The term X began as a Latin word which means “a race” or “the
course of a race”. Its origin appear closely linked to the Calvinist
desire to bring greater order to education. The first known use of X
can be traced in “Professio Regia”, a work by University of Paris
professor Petrus Ramus which was published posthumously in
1576. The term subsequently appeared in University of Leiden
records in 1582. By the 17th century, the University of Glasgow also
started using the term, producing first known use of the term in
English.

 The origins of this practice dates back to around A.D. 127-151
when a Greek astronomer Ptolemy wrote that occasionally, out
of curiosity or boredom, the Gods peer down at the Earth from
between the spheres. He stated that while this happens the
main subject of the practice obtains a high velocity. The Greeks
believed that this meant rising or falling of human soul, while
Jews and Christians believed it to be a fallen angel or demon.
Aristophanes, a Greek playwright, had another explanation. He
believed that it was the “soul of poor person, drunkenly walking
home after he/she had dinner at a rich place”.
 Origins of which practice is being discussed here?

 X(s) are believed to be responsible for proper functioning of the
universe, and in Hindu cosmology, they are given lordship over
celestial bodies, called Nakshtras. In Bhagvata Purana, there are 12
X(s). As Indra, X destroys the enemies of the gods. As Dhata, X creates
living beings. As Parjanya, X showers down rain. As Tvashta, X lives in
the trees and herbs. As Pusha, X makes foodgrains grow. As Aryama, X
is in the wind. As Bhaga, X is in the body of all living beings. As
Vivasvana, X is in fire and helps to cook food. As Vishnu, X destroys
the enemies of the gods. As Amshumana, X is again in the wind. As
Varuna, X is in water and as Mitra, X is in the moon and in the oceans.
In each month a different X is said to shine. X(s) are the children of a
celestial mother who is believed to be the feminized form of Brahma.

 X is located in the Alpha Centauri A system approximately 4.37 light-years
away from Earth. It is one of the many natural satellites orbiting the gas
giant Polyphemus. X’s biosphere teems with a biodiversity of
bioluminescent species ranging from hexapodal animals to other types of
exotic fauna and flora. Unobtanium, a mineral which can be used to fulfill
the energy supply requirements on Earth, is readily available on X. It is
because of this reason that X has attracted a lot of attention globally.
Since, X’s atmosphere is poisonous to human beings, researchers have to
wear protective gear while exploring the sites where the mineral can be
found.

 A certain phenomenon occurred in the districts of Kottayam and
Idukki in Kerala from 25th July to 23rd September 2001. According to
locals, the phenomenon was preceded by a loud thunderclap and
flash of light, and followed by groves of trees shedding shriveled grey
"burnt" leaves. A light microscopy examination that was conducted by
Centre for Earth Science Studies (CESS) in the same year revealed that
the phenomenon occurred because of the fallout from a hypothetical
meteor burst. However, a study commissioned by the Indian
Government concluded that it occurred because of airborne spores
from a locally prolific terrestrial green algae from the genus
Trentepohlia, which grows abundantly on tree barks, or damp soil and
rocks.
 What phenomenon is being talked about?
 Red Rain in Kerala
 The Reichenbach Falls are a series of waterfalls on the

February 1967, he noticed that the participants could easily
answer questions pertaining to Greek mythology, but were unable
to reply to the question “In the Ramayana, who was Rama’s
mother?”. He was shocked that Indian students could answer
questions on Greek and Roman mythology, but were ignorant of
their own history, mythology and culture. Therefore, he left his job

 X, written by Robert Munsch, revolves around the relationship between a
mother of her son. In the book, the mother is stressed by her son’s
behavior, but still continues to crawl to his room at night, hold him in her
arms and sign to him. After her son enters adulthood and leaves home,
his elderly mother occasionally sneaks into his bedroom at night and sing
her song. In her final days, the son visits her and sings the same song to
her, vowing to always love her before she dies before him. X was listed
fourth on the 2001 Publishers’ Weekly All-Time Best Selling Children's
Books list. Since its publication in 1986, X has sold more than 15 million
copies.

 Hitler started viewing X as “decadent” and “the wrath of Red Man
against White Man, concluding that so many excellent men have been
lost due to X. Hitler hated the fact that his military personnel actively
followed the practice. During the World War II, he said on 2 March
1942, “it was a mistake, traceable to the army leadership at the time,
at the beginning of the war”. During this period, the Nazi government
popularized the ideology that women who were engaged in this
practice were not fit to become wives and mothers and were
vulnerable to pre-mature ageing. Both the factors helped in leading
the first public campaign against X in modern history.

 X was founded by three high school friends who attended Agoura
High School in Agoura Hills, California. After graduating from high
school, they began to take their musical interests more seriously and
recruited three more members, including Mark Wakefield to perform
in their band “Xero”. The lack of success and stalemate in progress
prompted Wakefield, at that time the band’s vocalist, to leave the
band in search of other projects. After spending a considerable time
searching for Wakefield’s replacement, Xero recruited an Arizona
vocalist, who was recommended by Jeff Blue, the vice president of
Zomba Music in 1999. The vocalist, formerly of a post-grunge band by
the name of Grey Daze, became a standout among applicants because
of his dynamic singing style.

the concepts of good sportsmanship and the branch of artificial
intelligence that deals with the searching of game trees. An early
variation of X was played in the Roman Empire, around the first century
B.C. and was called “Terni Lapilli”. Other variations of X include Notakto,
Misere and Treblecross. Despite its apparent simplicity, X requires
detailed analysis to determine even some elementary combinatory facts,
the most interesting of which are the number of possible games and
positions. A position is merely a state of the board, while a game usually
refers to the way a terminal position is obtained.

 X was founded in 1892 by Arthur Turnure as a weekly newspaper
in the United States, sponsored by Kristoffer Wright. Turnure’s
main intention was to create a publication that celebrated the
“ceremonial side of life” and “attracts the sage as well
as debutante, men of affairs as well as the belle”. At that time, X
was primarily concerned with fashion, with coverage of sports and
social affairs included for its male readership. Conde Nast bought X
in 1905, one year after Turnure’s death and changed it into a bi-
weekly magazine and started it overseas in the 1910s. It was later
turned into a monthly fashion publication.

 X features a modern expressionist design, with a series of large
precast concrete "shells", each composed of sections of
a sphere of 75.2 meters radius. Designed by a Danish architect
John Utzon, X was formally opened on 20th October 1973 after
a gestation beginning with his selection as a winner of an
international competition, held in 1957, to design X. He was
initially rejected by three judges, but his entry was picked out
by the fourth judge, who declared it outstanding. He bet 232
other entrants and won £5000 for his design. Unfortunately, he
resigned as the chief architect of X in 1966, after a new Liberal
government and the Minister for Public Works stopped paying
him, and never returned to see his design take shape.

 The most commonly held theory of X's origin maintains that X was
invented in northern China around 164 B.C. by Lord Liu An, a Han
Dynasty prince, for his old, ill mother. However, the paucity of
concrete information about this period makes it difficult to
conclusively determine whether Liu An himself invented the
method for making X. Another theory states that the ancient
Chinese learned the method for making X from the Mongolians or
East Indians. Benjamin Franklin was first American to mention X in
a 1770 letter to John Bartam, calling it as “cheese” from China.

 X, originally released by the blues rock band Derek and the Dominoes,
was inspired by a classical love story that originated in the 7th-century
Arabia and later formed the basis of a poem composed by the 12th
century Persian poet Nizami Ganjavi, a copy of which Ian Dallas had given
to Y. The book moved Y profoundly, because it was a tale of a man who
fell in love with a beautiful woman and went crazy because he could not
marry her. The song was further inspired by Y’s then unrequited love for
Pattie Boyd, the wife of his friend and fellow musician George Harrison of
“The Beatles”. Y originally wrote X as a ballad, with lyrics describing his
love for Boyd, but the song became a “rocker” when one of the members
of the band, Duane Allman composed the song’s signature riff.

 John J. Graham is credited for designing the symbol for X, which was an
abstraction of a peacock to indicate richness in color. It was adopted
because the parent company of X had started manufacturing color T.V.
sets. The peacock became a marketing tool, in the hopes that people
would purchase color TV sets. However, it was discontinued during the
early 1960s.
 The peacock returned, with slight variations, as a part of X’s branding in
the fall of 1979. The first initial of X and image of the Peacock were
combined together to create a design called the "Proud N". However, X
decided to end the association of the letter and peacock in the year 1986,
thereby introducing the current logo to the world.

 In the United Sates during July 2007, Aman Kapoor, founder of the
“Immigration Voice” forum, initiated a “peaceful” protest against the
United States Citizenship and Immigration Services office when a lot
of Indians were caught in a green card backlog even though they were
living there legally. In 2006, residents of Lucknow had staged a similar
protest to remove a wine shop which was established near a temple
in the Rana Pratap Marg. In 2008, Indian Greenpeace activists
initiated a similar peaceful protest against Ratan Tata when he was
planning to build a port at the nesting grounds of Olive Ridley sea
turtles.
 What did they do? Where did these protests took inspiration from?
 The activists sent flower bouquets to the authorities in order to
gain their attention. These Gandhigiri-style protests took
inspiration from the movie “Lage Raho Munna Bhai”.
 The Pune police have registered a case against filmmaker Shlok
Sharma following a complaint by Balbharati, Maharashtra’s textbook
bureau, objecting to striking similarities between its logo and
promotion scenes from Sharma’s upcoming film X.
 Balbharati had accused Sharma and other crew members for allegedly
tampering with the Balbharati logo and illegally using it for advertising
and promotion of his film.
 The Balbharati’s official logo for textbooks from Class I to VIII depicts a

 The word “X” is derived from two Sanskrit words: “Avagunthana”,
which means to hide or veil and “Oguntheti” which means to
cover, veil over and hide. The popularity of X has significantly
reduced in India. In Buddhist Mahayana literature, “Lalitavistara
Sutra” written in 3rd Century B.C., young bride Yashodhara
objected to use X. This was initially taken to be a sign of
immodesty and willfulness, as people criticized her and gossiped.
However, her rational arguments were able to defend her ideology.
Yashodhara’s parents-in-law were so delighted with her proud
statements that they gave her two white garments covered with
jewels. Today, the use of X by women as part of everyday attire is
now mostly limited to Hindi-speaking areas of India.

 The legend is during the 1980s, BMW engineers wanted to build their F1 engine
around the M10 4-cylinder architecture, which was introduced in the ‘60s. But
engineers in those days knew that a new factory casting could be suspect in
surviving the forces generated by 11,000 rpm and 50-plus pounds of boost in race
trim with reportedly close to 80 pounds for qualifying. Fears of core shift, porosity
and thin walls were always a concern to engine builders when using high-volume-
production castings. So, the engineers adapted a policy to use only blocks that
had been driven around a 100,000 miles with no problems. BMW even left the
blocks outside to weather the elements for a few months, with the goal of
“seasoning” the block to eliminate any internal casting stress and stabilize all the
dimensions. And finally, BMW engineers reportedly did an eccentric thing, either
as a sign of good luck or there was a scientific premise that warranted testing.
 What did they do?
 They peed on the blocks. BMW engineers stored their Formula 1 engine
blocks out in the cold and peed on them to help harden the metal so that
they could withstand the force of turbocharged racing. Whether any of
the individual tactics actually contributed to the block’s durability, the
overall strategy certainly worked.
 In order to hide his identity, X lived under assumed names and used only cash
to protect himself. However, he was eventually tracked down by Abstergo
Industries and captured. Once inside Abstergo’s facility, he was forced to
enter the Animus, under the watch of Abstergo scientists Dr. Warren Vidic
and Dr. Lucy Stillman, to retrieve certain highly valuable information. After
recovering the information for which the scientists were searching,
Abstergo’s executives order X to be killed. Lucy's quick thinking saved him;
she persuaded Vidic to keep him alive until they know he was of no further
use. Upon returning to his room, X, suffering from the "Bleeding Effect",
discovered the side effect had given him a power that allowed him to discern

Aditya Gupta and Divyanshu S. Gandhi (14-01-2017)

  • 1.
  • 2.
  • 3.  48 Questions  +10 on direct  +20/-20 on pounce
  • 4.  The term X began as a Latin word which means “a race” or “the course of a race”. Its origin appear closely linked to the Calvinist desire to bring greater order to education. The first known use of X can be traced in “Professio Regia”, a work by University of Paris professor Petrus Ramus which was published posthumously in 1576. The term subsequently appeared in University of Leiden records in 1582. By the 17th century, the University of Glasgow also started using the term, producing first known use of the term in English.  Identify X.
  • 5.
  • 7.  The origins of this practice dates back to around A.D. 127-151 when a Greek astronomer Ptolemy wrote that occasionally, out of curiosity or boredom, the Gods peer down at the Earth from between the spheres. He stated that while this happens the main subject of the practice obtains a high velocity. The Greeks believed that this meant rising or falling of human soul, while Jews and Christians believed it to be a fallen angel or demon. Aristophanes, a Greek playwright, had another explanation. He believed that it was the “soul of poor person, drunkenly walking home after he/she had dinner at a rich place”.  Origins of which practice is being discussed here?
  • 8.
  • 9.  Wishing Upon a Shooting Star
  • 10.  X(s) are believed to be responsible for proper functioning of the universe, and in Hindu cosmology, they are given lordship over celestial bodies, called Nakshtras. In Bhagvata Purana, there are 12 X(s). As Indra, X destroys the enemies of the gods. As Dhata, X creates living beings. As Parjanya, X showers down rain. As Tvashta, X lives in the trees and herbs. As Pusha, X makes foodgrains grow. As Aryama, X is in the wind. As Bhaga, X is in the body of all living beings. As Vivasvana, X is in fire and helps to cook food. As Vishnu, X destroys the enemies of the gods. As Amshumana, X is again in the wind. As Varuna, X is in water and as Mitra, X is in the moon and in the oceans. In each month a different X is said to shine. X(s) are the children of a celestial mother who is believed to be the feminized form of Brahma.  What is X?
  • 11.
  • 13.  X is located in the Alpha Centauri A system approximately 4.37 light-years away from Earth. It is one of the many natural satellites orbiting the gas giant Polyphemus. X’s biosphere teems with a biodiversity of bioluminescent species ranging from hexapodal animals to other types of exotic fauna and flora. Unobtanium, a mineral which can be used to fulfill the energy supply requirements on Earth, is readily available on X. It is because of this reason that X has attracted a lot of attention globally. Since, X’s atmosphere is poisonous to human beings, researchers have to wear protective gear while exploring the sites where the mineral can be found.  Identify X

So, the engineers adapted a policy to use only blocks that had been driven around a 100,000 miles with no problems. BMW even left the blocks outside to weather the elements for a few months, with the goal of “seasoning” the block to eliminate any internal casting stress and stabilize all the dimensions.
