India win by three wickets

It is the first game for Virat Kohli as the Indian captain in all three formats.

India need 1 run from 12 balls to win over England as Hardik Pandya hits a six.

At 44.1 overs, Jake Ball takes Ravindra Jadeja's wicket. 

As the 39th over began, Pandya, Jadhav took to the boundary. The run chase seems to be much more impressive than what was imagined. England was at 227 at this stage, whereas India is at 288 for 5.

Jadhav injured himself but still managed to hit two sixes in the 38th over. India 277 for 5.

The 37th over however, took Kohli out of the game. Stokes bowled as Willey caught him out. Kohli walks out, giving a good run of 122. Hardik Pandya comes in to bat. India 264 for 5.

Kedhar Jadhav hits his century in style too! With a boundary, bowled by Woakes, the 36th over took India to 262 for 4.

Ben Stokes gives his best shot in the 35th over. With India at 251 for four, 100 runs are required from 15 overs.

Kohli's unbelievable six, Jadhav's four takes India to 245 for 4 at 34 overs . What seemed as far fetched at the beginning of the game now seems hopeful for the Indians with this power duo.

As long as the players keep it going steady, India is going well at 232 for 4 at the end of 33 overs.

Kohli scores a century in style as 32 overs are complete. With a six off Woakes' ball, the Kohli Jadhav partnership has taken up the run rate to 7.14, whereas the required rate is only 6.77.

With Rashid put in to bowl, Jadhav matches up to Kohli's performance today with a six and a four, taking India to 221 for 4 at the end of the 31st over.

The 30th over saw another boundary from Kohli. This is the third consecutive over where he has hit a four. India 208 for 4.

Moeen Ali comes to bowl for the 29th over . Here's hoping for a century for Kohli. India stands at 198 for 4, whereas England was 170 for 3.

With Jadhav's four in the last over and Kohli's four in this one, India 188 for 4 at the end of 28 overs . The partnership continues to be consistent.

With 27 overs , Kohli stands at 77 and Jadhav at 66. With a run rate of 6.7, the duo are going strong. India 181 for 4.

At the end of the 26th over , India stands at 174 for 4. Kohli hit a much needed six to pick up the run rate by a little bit.

One run off each ball but one, the 23rd over seems to going well for the Indians despite the fact that they need to up their game. Jadhav scores his fifty and India is at 152 for 4, with 199 runs required from 27 overs.

The 21st over sees a steady growth for India as the partnership widens with Jadhav hitting a four as Moeen Ali bowls. India 140 for 4.

Jadhav hits a four, as Rashid bowls the 20th over . He tries to keep the batsmen at bay, but India keep it going at 132 for 4.

At the end of 19th over, India at 125 for 4. Run rate stands at 6.57 but the required run rate however, is 7.29.

Kohli inching in for a fifty. Jake Ball bowls the 17th over . Slowly picking up the pace, India stands at 108 for 4.

Jadhav gives a consistent 15th over with a couple of fours. One run each, off all the other balls, Stokes bowls the over giving 12 runs to the duo. India 94 for 4.

The 13th over saw Kedhar Jadhav and Kohli giving one boundary each. With India at 74 for 4, 277 runs are required from 37 overs.

India doesn't look in good form now, as Dhoni goes out in the 12th over itself, getting caught out by Willey. With four opening batsmen gone, the chase for 351 seems to be far fetched. India 64 for 4.

The 11th over took away Yuvraj from the field, just after he hit a four. Stokes is striking his way up today. This brings in MS Dhoni. Dhoni gives away a strong boundary in his second ball. The crowd cheers for the man. India 61 for 3.

Jake Ball bowls the 10th over ; Kohli takes to the skies, hits a six. India 51 for 2.

At the end of the 9th over , India stands at 43 for 2. Kohli tries for a run every now and then, but to no avail.

Yuvraj hits a six here, a four there, as Willey tries his best not to give any runs in all the other balls in the 8th over. India 42 for 2.

At the end of the 7th over, it is clear that Kohli has taken charge. With a couple of boundaries, he takes India to 32 for 2.

Rahul kicked out of stumps by Willey in the sixth over. The Indian captain goes for a six, comes in slowly to his own form. Yuvraj Singh is in. India 24 for 2.

Kohli comes in to bat. India 14 for 1 at the end of the fifth over . Woakes shows a good form in the second and the fifth over, barely giving runs to the Indian team.

England picks up pace in the fourth over when Willey takes Dhawan out. India 13 for 1.

Rahul hits a four in the second over and kickstarts India's campaign. India stands at 9 for 0.

Indian openers Lokesh Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan all set to chase their 351 as Chris Woakes comes to bowl.

The last over sees Willey hit a six. Bumrah bowls his best with England ending it at 350 for 7. This is now  England's highest score in India.

With two overs remaining, India brings in Umesh Yadav to bowl. Luckily enough, Ali was taken off the game and in comes David Willey. England 338 for 7.

At the beginning of the 48th over, however, Stokes was caught out by Yadav. Having given enough credit to the score, he leaves the pitch with 62 runs. Looks like he couldn't hit the ball far enough. Chris Woakes comes in to bat. Moeen Ali keeps the pace up with a six. England 330 for 6.

The 47th over was no big difference for our man Stokes. As Umesh Yadav comes in to bowl, Stokes hits the skies again, and Ali goes for two boundaries. Twenty runs this over, England 317 for 5.

Looks like there is no stopping the Stokes-Ali partnership. Be it Bumrah or Ashwin, Stokes takes it all the way up the sky no matter what. At the end of over 46, England 297 for 5.

In the 45th over, Stokes and Ali each take their turns in giving a six and a four respectively. With 14 runs this over, England stands at 285 for 5.

In the 44th over, Ben Stokes is proving costly for Team India with a six here, a four there and so on... England 271 for 5. The run rate has gone up to 6.15 now.

At the end of the 43rd over, Stokes goes up steadily. He takes a six, much to the disappointment of the hosts. England 255 for 5.

The 42nd over saw Bumrah take out Root at 78. Much like Jason Roy, Joe Root couldn't go beyond a certain point. Moeen Ali comes in. England 245 for 5.

With the 41st over, Jadhav gave a steady array of runs but took enough care not to pick up the run rate. England 240 for 4.

With Buttler gone, the Indians can sweep in their efforts a little bit to take off a couple of more. At the end of the 40th over, Root hit a boundary, taking England to 235 for 4.

At the 39th over, Stokes makes a steady start, hits a four, as Jadhav bowls. With a couple of more runs, England stands at 227 for 4.

The 38th over was when Pandya took Buttler out . With Ben Stokes coming in, Pandya gives a perfect over with only two runs to spare. England 221 for 4.

With the 37th over, Buttler goes for a six and brings back their form. Yuvraj's bowling helped the visitors pick up the run rate. England 219 for 3.

At the end of 36 overs, Jadeja gives consistent runs and keeps the run rate running at 5.86. England 211 for 3.

Yuvraj Singh comes to bowl Joe Root and Jos Buttler and gives a total of six runs to the batsmen at the 35th over . England 205 for 3.

The 34th over saw Jadeja unable to stop Root from hitting a six. With ten runs this over, England is at 199 for 3.

At the 33rd over, Joe Root celebrates his fifty, as it takes the batsmen to 189 for 3.

With 31 overs, Pandya gives a couple of runs to Buttler and Root. England stands at 175 for 3. The run rate has slowed down a bit at 5.64.

Thirty overs have passed and it is Jadeja who is proving himself on the field. Giving just one run to Buttler throughout the over, England is 171 for 3.

29th over gives England 170 for 3. Buttler takes a boundary and the run rate stands at 5.86.

Jos Buttler comes to bat at the 28th over. Jadeja gives his best for the first five balls, but Root goes for a four anyway. England 163 for 3.

The 27th over took off a wicket from the visitors. Morgan , who was slowly climbing up the ladder got knocked out, thanks for Pandya. England 157 for 3.

End of over 26 sees England at 154 for 2. Jadhav gives his best. Root and Morgan score couple of runs each.

The 25th over sees Hardik Pandya back on the field, but all it did was up the run rate. Morgan hit another four and is proving his worth. England at 150 for 2.

At the 24th over, Ashwin comes back to bowl England 140 for 2. Morgan hits a four, and the run rate stands at 5.83. It will be better for the hosts if the rate goes down.

The 23rd over was not bad for the hosts. With England 132/2, Bumrah tried his best to not give let the batsmen take any runs. But Root goes for a boundary.

With 22 overs, Root and Morgan give a tough time to Ashwin scoring back to back. They even get a six off a sweep. It was the first six of the match. England 126 for 2.

At the end of 21 overs, England stands at 113 for 2. Bumrah's bowling sees light with giving no runs to Morgan, but only a couple to Root.

Twentieth over sees Ashwin giving the visitors a toss with barely two runs, one each to Eoin Morgan and Root. England 111 for 2.

The 19th over gives India a wicket! Jason Roy leaves the pitch with 73 runs in his hand. Jadeja and Dhoni prove their worth on the field. The visitors stand at 109 for 2.

At the 17th over, Jadeja tries his best to keep his form. Giving no runs in three balls, he tries to uproot Joe Root from his level. England at 99 for 1.

With 16 overs, England is keeping it on at 95 for 1. Ashwin tries to give his best, although with a wide.

A consistent 14th over by Jason Roy and Joe Root. Ravichandran Ashwin comes into bowl. Root tries to pump up his partnership and stands at 90 for 1.

With 13 overs, Jadeja gave Root a boundary as England stood at 82 for 1. If not for Jadeja, Root could have taken it up by a notch.

At the end of 11 overs: Ravindra Jadeja into the attack. Good over from Jadeja, England 72 for 1.

Good first 10 overs for England scoring at 6.7 runs. Jason Roy is brilliant today and he is just whacking the Indian bowlers all around the park.

At the end of 10 overs: Jason Roy is really dealing in boundaries. The run-out of Alex Hales didn't deter Jason Roy. Roy completes his half-century in style. England 67 for 1.

At the end of 9 overs: Again an expensive over from Umesh Yadav giving away two boundaries. England 57 for 1.

At the end of 8 overs: Bumrah into the attack. Good bowling from Bumrah. England 48 for 1.

At the end of 7 overs: Appeal for run out. Bumrah is the man at the deep. Excellent throw from Bumrah. Alex Hales is out for 9. Englnad 39 for 1.  Joe Root is the new man. Despite losing wicket, Jason Roy is dealing in boundaries. England 44 for 1 (Jason Roy 31, Joe Root 0)

At the end of six overs: England 34 for no loss

At the end of five overs: Another good over from India, this time from Umesh Yadav. England 28 for no loss.

At the end of four overs: A good over from Hardik Pandya. England 24 for no loss.

At the end of three overs: Jason Roy is dealing in boundaries now. Is it a wicket. England goes for a review.....It is not out.  Good decision from the third umpire. The ball is clearly missing the stumps. England 22 for no loss.

At the end of 2 overs: England's Jason Roy hits two boundaries in two balls. England 15 for no loss. (Jason Roy 13, Hales 0).

At the end of 1 over : England 6 for no loss (Alex Hales 0, Jason Roy 4)

It remains to be seen how Virat Kohli plays with the batting order.

The national anthem of the teams are being played now.

India won the toss and opted to field in the first ODI against England at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium here today.

It is the first game for Virat Kohli as the India captain in all three formats.

Comeback man Yuvraj Singh was named in the playing eleven and the ones who missed out from the 15-member squad were Manish Pandey, Amit Mishra, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ajinkya Rahane.

Liam Dawson, Lian Plunkett, Sam Billings and Jonny Bairstow missed out from the England playing eleven.

Having won the Test series, India will play England in the three-match ODI series.

After M.S. Dhoni announced that he will step down from the captaincy, the BCCI entrusted the captaincy on Virat Kohli. Virat Kohli has been in sublime form in the Test series.

With the Champions Trophy and 2019 World Cup in mind, Virat Kohli will be leading a side which has Yuvraj Singh and M.S. Dhoni in the ranks.

This is going to be the first bilateral ODI in India with DRS.
