Mumbai, Jan 14:  We don’t really admire our cops and also we hardly thank them, but a citizen of Argentina thanked the Andheri police for helping him out. The visitor, identified as Augustine Gonzalez, thanked the Andheri police for recuperating his lost bag that had his passport, camera and at least $ 1,000, which he had left in an autorickshaw. The delighted 21-year-old student from Argentia said that he will share this story on social media sites.

The Andheri police too had a reason to smile and an officer said that it is good to be acknowledged at times, as we are never seen in a positive manner. According to Indian Express, the 21-year-old student in his note wrote that he had left his belongings in an autorickshaw and the cops tracked down the rickshaw and handed over his stuff in 11 hours. He also said that “there was no harm caused in the incident and police acted promptly after the matter was put before them.”

The Indian Express quoted Narendra Moryani, host of Augustine Gonzalez describe the incident saying that the cops, initally, were taking time even after the address of the rickshaw wallah from Regional Transport Office (RTO). He also said that Gonzales had snapped rickshaw’s licence number while clicking pictures.” Moryani also stated that following this we approached police and the senior officer sent two cops with us to the auto wallahs address.”

On Thursday, upon recovering his lost bag Gonzales complained of his missing expired passport, which was later recovered after the auto wallah revealed the spot where he had hit it.

This is not the first incident where cops have been on their toes to help the foreign nationals, earlier in December 2016, Delhi police had managed to trace the stolen mobile phone of a Brazilian couple within an hour.
