A crude distillation unit (CDU) of Hindustan Petroleum's Visakh Refinery was shutdown early Saturday morning after a fire outbreak.
None was injured in the fire, which spread from the Crude Distillation Unit-1 of the refinery last night.
The cause of fire was not immediately known. "It was a minor fire and put out with our fire tenders," a company spokesman told The Hindu .
Immediate steps were taken to prevent the spread of fire to other units.
A departmental enquiry has been ordered. The loss due to the incident is being estimated.
The Visakh Refinery is now expanding its capacity from 8.33 to 15 million tonne with an investment of over Rs. 20,000 crore after obtaining environmental clearance.
