Railway staffer held with Rs 12 lakh
NEW DELHI: A coach attendant of Allahabad Duronto express was arrested on Friday by the Railway Protection Force and Rs 11.91 lakh in new currency was recovered from him.
RPF men deployed at the exit gates of the New Delhi Railway Station noticed the 32-year-old man moving out with a suspicious-looking bag and intercepted him.
“As we approached him, he started walking fast to exit the station area.
An RPF team, led by Inspector RS Singh, chased and caught him,” said a senior RPF officer.
The accused told officers that a man in Allahabad gave him the cash-bag and asked him to deliver it to a person in central Delhi’s Karol Bagh. “The accused was promised Rs 600 in return for delivering the cash safely,” the officer said.
