Wintry pictures as snow, ice and high winds hit the UK

Severe flood warnings are in place along the east coast of England, with evacuations already under way in parts of Essex and Norfolk. Will Mcilveen was in South Quay, Great Yarmouth, where the name of this boat, which is in port because of the storm surge, caught his attention.
Wildlife and livestock have also been dealing with the adverse weather and these two foxes seem happy to relax in Andrew Thayaseelan's garden in Chigwell, Essex.
Steve North's dog Shadow had never seen snow before but he seems not to mind being out for a walk in Coulsdon, Surrey.
Cleeve Hill, Gloucestershire, only had a light dusting of snow, just enough to create this scene. Barrie Bird, who took the photo, said he had a flask of coffee to keep him warm while waiting in the freezing temperatures.
While the snow and ice prevented many from getting to work, Dan James still made it to his office in Exmoor National Park and he even managed to take a few photos on the way.
In Scotland up to 7in (18cm) of snow fell, resulting in the closure of schools and nurseries. Conor's school in Aberdeenshire was one of those to shut. While mum Kerry was busy clearing the path of snow, he and his dog Woody put the snow to good use to create a Viking-inspired snowman.

Ice and snow-covered roads have caused disruption for many and James Dennison had to abandon his car and finish his journey on foot on Thursday. He took this photo in Chaldon, Surrey, while on the way back to pick it up.
