Maharishi Valmiki Sanskrit Vishvvidalaya, which was to be constructed in Mundri village of this district, was now likely to be set up in Peoda village.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had announced during a state-level Valmiki Jayanti function in Kaithal over a year ago to set up a Sanskrit university in Mundri village, about 12 km from here, on the Kaithal–Karnal road.

The Mundri village panchayat has imposed certain conditions like a provision for grant of jobs to village youth while passing a resolution to donate land for the university . The government, it is learnt, has refused to accept any condition for the donation of land.

Dr Jitender Singh Ahlawat , District Development and Panchayat Officer ( DDPO),Kaithal, said the department would start the process for setting up the university in Peoda after the government approves the resolution passed by the village panchayat.
