In big fight, tusker succumbs in Pollibetta

MADIKERI: A wild elephant was killed in a fight between two tuskers in a coffee estate in Pollibetta in Madikeri district early on Wednesday morning. The other tusker which has also sustained severe injuries is roaming in the BBTC Estate near Siddapur. Forest department staff said the tusker, which died, had received injuries on its stomach, head and legs and had suffered for hours due to excessive bleeding before dying.The incident happened in the Woodlands Coffee Estate of Nellamakkada U Subbaiah. Virajpet DFO Suryasena visited the spot. The lephant was buried in the estate.
