KARACHI: A building in city’s downtown area of Khadda Market in Lyari caught fire in the night between Monday and Tuesday, killing three children before being doused by firefighters. Three children died as a result of suffocation due to the smoke of the fire. The children were inside the building when it caught fire and as a result of the smoke, they suffocated to their death. According to rescue sources, three-year -old Amna, two-year-old Aliyan and four-year-old Abdul Aziz, fell consciousness when heavy smoke filled the rooms after fire eruption, resulting in their death on the spot, while their parents got critically injured. The bodies and injured were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for autopsies and treatment, respectively. According to neighbors some body had set the dump of garbage adjacent to building on fire which turned into an inferno in a little while and took first floor of the building into its clout causing the death of small children sleeping in a flat of the first floor. The fire was later put out by the firefighters.
