KARACHI: Bollywood smash-hit ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, starring superstars Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, has become the first film to enter the 100 crore club within the first week of its release.
Director Ayan Mukherji’s film had a bumper opening of Rs. 19.45 crore and was expected to break the Rs 100 crore barrier eventually. Produced under the banner of Dharma Productions, the movie gained attention from audiences due to its star cast and timely release.
After producing two of Ranbir’s films ‘Wake up Sid’ and ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, Karan Johar is reported to direct a film casting Ranbir Kapoor releasing sometime next year. According to Indian media sources, “it is true Karan will be directing Ranbir. And the film is likely to go on the floors early next year.” The project allegedly revolves around a love story in Lahore during partition.
According to the latest buzz, ‘Rockstar’ Ranbir will reportedly complete Abhinav Kashyap’s ‘Besharam’ starring Pallavi Sharda, and his parents Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh. The film is slated for release later this year.
