INDORE: Madhya Pradesh's
Saruj Devi bagged two gold medals on the fourth day of the 27th National Kayaking, Canoeing and Sprint Championship which is being held at
Bilawali Lake in the city.
Paddling her canoe to victory, Saruj won the first medal in the C1 (singles) 500m race in the junior category crossing the finish line in 2.59.70 minutes. She then teamed up with
Ramkanya Dangi grabbing another gold medal in the C2 (doubles) race of 500m in canoeing.
In K4 women's 500m race MP's F Sonia Devi, KH Omla Devi, Leshram Meena Devi and S
Sushila Chanu won another gold medal during the day. Kayaks of Kerala and Andaman and Nicobar had to settle for silver and bronze medal respectively in the same category.
MP girls continued their power packed show clinching another gold medal in the C-4, 500m canoeing race. Anjali Vashishtha led this canoeing team of four including M Inocha Devi, Namita Chandel and
Rajeshwari Khusram.
However, MP women had to settle for silver in the K-4, 500m women's category.
The fourth day ended on a happy note with MP junior girls' team consisting Mala Keer and Tejam Demita Devi bagging gold in the K-2 race crossing the finishing mark in 2.18.96 minutes.
The national championship being organised in the city by MP Canoeing and
Kayaking Association and
Indore District Association will conclude on Friday with the prize distribution ceremony.
