Thursday's Magic News: C.J. Wilcox waits for his opportunity to play

Magic lose to Clippers 105-96 as offense sputters late: As Orlando Magic executives overhauled their roster over the summer, one of the biggest criticisms from outside the organization centered around the offense. How would the team generate baskets, especially when opponents tightened their defenses late in games? The Magic did not have enough quality shooters — or at least that’s what naysayers said. On Wednesday night, the pessimists’ worries once again came true. -- Orlando Sentinel

Orlando Magic's C.J. Wilcox waits for his opportunity: On Dec. 5, 2015, the last time the Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Clippers played each other at the Staples Center, shooting guard C.J. Wilcox watched the entire game from the Clippers’ bench. Wilcox could not crack the Clippers’ veteran-laden rotation. Thirteen months later, the only thing different about Wilcox’s situation is his team. -- Orlando Sentinel

Injury keeps Serge Ibaka from playing against Clippers: The Orlando Magic entered their game Wednesday night against the Los Angeles Clippers at less than full strength. Power forward Serge Ibaka, the team’s second-leading scorer and third-leading rebounder, sat out because of a sore right shoulder after he tested the shoulder on Staples Center’s game court. He said an MRI on the joint revealed no damage. -- Orlando Sentinel

Serge Ibaka Misses Wednesday's Game With Sore Shoulder: Serge Ibaka came into Wednesday having played in all 39 of the Orlando Magic’s games this season – something he has always prided himself on doing throughout his eight-year NBA career. However, Ibaka’s run of consecutive games played came to an end on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Clippers when the multi-talented power forward was unable to play because of a sprained right shoulder. -- Magic.com

Magic vs. Clippers: Postgame Report: With apologies to Randy Newman’s catchy, hit song from 1983, the Orlando Magic certainly aren’t singing along to "I Love L.A." – particularly after what happened to them twice in the past four nights at Staples Center. -- Magic.com
