SJVN Foundation awarded scholarships to 149 meritorious students of Himachal Pradesh at a function held today at Shimla. To mark the Silver Jubilee of SJVN's formation, the Company had launched the Silver Jubilee Merit Scholarship Scheme in the year 2012.

His Excellency Governor of H.P. Acharya Devvratand Shri N.L. Sharma, Director (Personnel), SJVN andChairman SJVN Foundation along with Shri Ganesh Dutt Chairman of Committee of Directors on CSR, Shri A.S. Bindra Director (Finance), Shri R.K. Bansal, Director (Electrical), Shri Kunwar Singh, Director (Civil), and CEO of HIMCON, Shri Himanshu Sharmaawarded the scholarships of `24,000 per annum each to the selected 149 students. 101 merit scholarships in other states of SJVN's operations namely Uttarakhand, Bihar and Arunachal Pradesh are being awarded through the respective projects' offices. This year 250 scholarships will be awarded to meritorious students.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman SJVN Foundation told that for rewarding the merit and talent in the states of its operations SJVN foundation had started Silver Jubilee Merit Scholarship Scheme in the year 2012. The meritorious students, he told, were being selected from CBSE, ICSE and State Board schools. He said that from this year onwards there will be special consideration for the students from BPL families and Persons with Disablilities (PWDs) and from total scholarships 30% and 10% respectively will be disbursed among those persons from these categories. He informed the meritorious students that for getting continuous scholarship during their course of study, they will have to maintain a steady score and have to qualify all the examinations. He further informed that including those students to whom scholarship is being disbursed today, SJVN has awarded 887 merit scholarships under this scheme.

His Excellency, Governor of H.P. Acharya Devvrat praised the efforts of SJVN in carrying out various CSR activities. He admired the hardwork and dedication of students and prayed for their bright future. He further emphasized that education and moral values can together act as tool for change in right directon.
