Irish industrial services group Actavo has appointed a former Guinness Peat Aviation (GPA) group lawyer to its board as a non-executive director.

Margaret Clandillon is a lawyer with 25 years' commercial and legal experience working in the international leasing and financing sectors.

Ms Clandillon started her career with GPA Group, where she became General Counsel. She co-founded the leasing company, Pembroke Capital Limited.

Sean Corkery, Actavo chairman and chief executive, said Ms Clandillon brings "immense experience, ability and a stellar track record in international business to the company".

Last October, Actavo signed a five-year deal to install smart metering for ScottishPower.

The agreement means Actavo will deliver the majority of a smart metering installation programme to 1.5 million homes in Scotland.

As a result, the Irish company will create 230 new jobs in Scotland. Ms Clandillon qualified as a solicitor with the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland and she holds an honours law degree from Trinity College, Dublin.
