SK Porwal College drubbed
Anjuman College of Engineering and Technology 2-0 to win the
Nemkumar Porwal Memorial Inter-College Football tournament at the Porwal College ground, Kamptee on Wednesday.
Porwal boys dominated the entire proceedings of the match.
Shahbaz Khan provided the early breakthrough with a brilliant goal in the 10th minute.
Stunned by the early reversal, Anjuman College tried hard to score an equalizer but could not break the strong defence of Porwal.
Shadab Akhtar virtually closed the door for Anjuman when he netted a goal in the 40th minute.
Earlier in the semifinal, Porwal College rallied back strongly to edge out Sindhu Mahavidyalaya 2-1 thanks to a brace by Shadab Akhtar. The ace striker found the mark in the 53rd and 57th minutes to seal the fate of Sindhu Mahavidyalaya. Chirag Naidu (50th min) scored a consolation goal for Sindhu.
In the second semis, Anjuman pipped Hislop College 5-4 in tie-breaker. The score was locked at 1-1 during the regulation time.
Officiating director of Department of Sports and Physical Education of Nagpur University Ravindra Pundlik was the chief guest of the prize distribution function. Director (development) of Shikshan Prasarak Mandal Ashok Bhatia, principal Kunal Roychoudhary, vice-principal AH Ansari, Manish Chakraborty, Zakir Khan, Kalpana Jadhav, Amit Kanwar, JV Ramteke, Mallika Nagpure, Renuka Roy and Indrajit Basu were present of the occasion.
