CM’s indifference worsened situation, says Chennithala

The tug-of-war between the officials has hit the administration and the people.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala has come down heavily against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for failing to find a solution to the cold war between IAS officials and the Vigilance director.

“Had the Chief Minister taken appropriate steps earlier, the IAS officials’ issue would not have blown out of proportion. It is the indifferent attitude of the Chief Minister that has worsened the situation,” he said.

Noting that administration in the state has come to a complete standstill, Chennithala said being the administrative head, the Chief Minister has the responsibility to resolve these issues.

“Pinarayi Vijayan is not sitting at the AKG centre, but at the secretariat. The Chief Minister is watching the show from the gallery when the administrative machinery in the state has come to a standstill,” he said.
He alleged that files were pending in the offices of all the Ministers and even the Chief Minister’s office.

The tug-of-war between the officials has hit the administration and the people. The government is unable to address the concerns of the people, he said.

Chennithala said earlier, Chief Ministers from EMS to Oommen Chandy had always taken a firm stand when such administrative issues come up. “They had shown great administrative skills in resolving such problems,” he said.

Though the issue began around four months ago, beginning with the Vigilance visit to the house of Finance Secretary K M Abraham in October, the Chief Minister had been maintaining silence for all these months, Chennithala said.
