Tenders for NAD flyover to be floated soon

Collector Pravin Kumar on Tuesday said that tenders would be floated in a month for the Rs 100-crore flyover at NAD crossroads.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Collector Pravin Kumar on Tuesday said that tenders would be floated in a month for the Rs 100-cr flyover at NAD crossroads. He announced several development projects and welfare programmes in the district at gram sabha conducted as part of the Janmabhoomi programme at Gopalapatnam on Tuesday.

On the occasion, he said three designs were examined and finally the best design in the country was selected. He also claimed that the NAD flyover would be the first-ever in the country and construction would be completed in 18 months.

The collector also said that the government had also decided to construct a by-pass road from Gopalapatnam to NSTL for which the land acquisition process was under finalisation. The district administration has been discussing with the railway authorities to solve the Old Gopalapatnam railway level- crossing problems.

On the welfare programmes in the district, the collector said that the district administration had identified 50,000 families which did not have LPG connections in the district. The district administration is taking measures to provide LPG connections to all the families to ensure that the district is numero uno in the country.

In addition to the recent regularisation of houses, the collector announced regularisation of another 5,000 houses shortly. As many as 15,000 applications were received for regularisation of houses constructed over 100 sq.yards in the undisputed government lands. The committees have been scrutinising the applications and very shortly those encroachments would also be regularised, Pravin Kumar said.

On the long pending issue of the Simhachalam lands, the collector said that the government had been waiting for the court permission to solve the issue. Once the court is obtained on the disputed lands of the Simhachalam Devasthanam, as many as 12,000 people would get benefit out of regularisation of their lands. MLA PVGR Naidu said the e-Vaidya centre would be inaugurated soon at Lakshminagar.
