The squads will be gradually trimmed down over the next two years with just 12 players from each set to book their ticket to Argentina.

Olympic medallist Glenn Turner headlines Canberra's four inclusions in the men's squad, with former indoor hockey World Cup player Matthew Hotchkis, Ben Staines and Troy Sutherland also selected.

Kalindi Commerford has continued a dream run that saw her book a place in the Hockeyroos side with a chance at a World Cup now on the horizon.

Joining Commerford in the squad are Samantha Ecomonos, Kyah Gray, Kizziah Plumb, Peta Sutherland, Emma Taylor, and Shelley Watson.
