Deportation of Bangla nationals deferred

SILCHAR: Authorities on Monday failed to deport 17 Bangladeshi nationals who had been detained in Silchar Central Jail for the past few years. The detainees were supposed to be deported through Karinganj.
According to procedure, the Bangladeshi citizens were brought out of the detention camp but, in a last-minute twist, the process was postponed. Sources said the approval of the Union home ministry had not reached the officials here.
The sources added that the Bangladeshi citizens were brought back to the detention camp at Silchar Central Jail and would be deported within the next few days.
