The winners of the Fiji Rugby Awards Night main awards will kept top secret until its announcement on Saturday.

This was confirmed to SUNsports yesterday by Fiji Rugby Union chief executive officer, John O’Connor.

“Only a selected number of people know the results, which will only be known publicly during the announcement at our first Awards Night,” he said.

O’Connor has also announced the nominees for the Fiji Rugby Awards Night set for Saturday, January 14, at the Novotel Suva Lami Bay Entertainment Centre.

He said the main award categories have three nominees, which were shortlisted from candidates submitted by the affiliated Unions of FRU nationwide.

“We are pleased to be able to announce our nominees for the main award categories of the Fiji Rugby Awards Night this week Saturday. It was a hard decision to shortlist these names from some fantastic candidates submitted. Unfortunately, there can only be three nominees and one winner so we are happy with our selection.”

The Fiji Rugby Awards Night is set to kick-off at 6pm. O’Connor said the evening promises to be an amazing night full of entertainment, presentations, games and lucky draw prizes.

“Besides the Lifetime Achievement awards, the people of Fiji are also being given the opportunity to vote for their favourites with the Vodafone Popular Choice Awards. With not much time to go and voting lines closing on Friday, January 13, at mid-day, people are ramping up the votes to ensure their favourite is crowned.”

The Vodafone Popular Choice Awards will be crowning Player of the Year from the Vodafone Flying Fijians, Vodafone Fiji 7s Team, Telecom Fijiana, Domestic competition and also crowning Fiji’s Coach of the Year.

Voters can vote for their favourite by texting the code of the four nominees from each division to 812 with winners from each division not only being crowned the most popular but also receiving a Samsung S7 phone, compliments of Vodafone. Details for the codes of the nominees can be found on www.fijirugby.com

Five lucky voters will also win a chance to attend the Fiji Rugby Awards Night as a guest of Vodafone Fiji Limited with some other great prizes being given away.

The Fiji Rugby Awards Night is proudly supported by Vodafone Fiji Limited, HFC Bank, Novotel Suva Lami Bay, FBC TV, Fiji Sun, Communications Fiji Limited, The Dogfather Sports Bar, Coca-Cola Amatil Fiji, FIJI Water and Paradise Beverages.
