The new contest is for emerging comedy scriptwriters
The competition is in honour of Reginal Perrin scriptwriter David, who died in 2015. To enter, send the first ten pages of a half-hour radio or TV sitcom pilot script, or four three-minutes sketches. There is a first prize of £500, and two runner-up prizes of £250.
Writers entering the David Nobbs Memorial Trust Competition must not be full-time comedy writers, but should have at least one broadcast credit.
The David Nobbs Memorial Trust is a new charity, supported by Michael Palin and Barry Cryer, which plans to award a dedicated one-off grant to a limited number of new comedy writers each year to allow them to finesse their craft.
The competition launched at the beginning of 2017, and is open to entries until 15 January.
