    Once again, CAT topper is from Chandigarh

    Mukesh Goyal emerged as the All India CAT Topper with 100 percentile.

    CHANDIGARH: Tricity has become mecca for management aspirants. This is the fourth time the city has produced all India CAT Topper. The result that all management aspirants were eagerly waiting for, released on Monday morning on the official website of CAT and also through text messages sent to the candidates individually. With this, the anxious wait for around 1.95 lakh students around the country ended.

    Mukesh Goyal emerged as the All India CAT Topper with 100 percentile. He is a pass out of PEC Chandigarh and is currently working in Gurgoan. When contacted he said, “The biggest challenge is keeping yourself motivated. I focused on attempting mocks on weekends and analyzing them thoroughly.”

    According to Hirdesh Madan, Director Bulls eye, “Last year, Mukesh missed top IIM calls by a whisker but this year we were expecting a very good percentile from him and he managed to meet all our expectations.”

    Last year, Mukesh Goyal had scored 100 percentile in the Quant section but he scored less in the verbal section and his overall percentile was 99.72.

    According to IIM Bangalore, engineers rule the roost as 20 students all over India have got 100 percentile. All of them are male and are engineers.

    In the tricity, Pritika Sachdeva of UIET is reported to be the topper among girls with a percentile of 99.62. Expressing her happiness over the results, she said “As this was my second attempt, lot of things were at stake but thanks to the support of my mentors, friends and family that I could achieve such a result.”

    CAT is an all India Management Entrance Exam which was held on December 4, 2016, approximately 1.95 lakh candidates took the test which was conducted across 138 cities in the country. More than 8500 students from Chandigarh region appeared for the test. TCS has been conducting this prestigious exam and it was convened by IIM Bangalore. Top Management institutes attract top Indian & Foreign MNCs and average starting salary at IIMs ranges from 15-22 lakhs.

    The CAT entrance exam is not only the gateway for entry into 20 IIMs but more than 100 colleges across the country that accept the CAT score. Along with these, CAT scores are also used by prestigious institutions such as the IITs and FMS of the Delhi University. In the North India region, the University Business School (UBS) of Panjab University is one of the prominent colleges to accept CAT score and its cut-off is expected to be around 85 percentile.

    These results are the stepping stone for admission into IIMs. With the coming of these results, the first stage of the admission process has come to an end. The students are shortlisted on the basis of CAT score, academic performance in 10th, 12th and Graduation and Work Experience. Some B-Schools give a special preference to girl students. The second round of the process consists of group discussions, personal interviews and essay writing. As a matter of fact, over the last three years, more and more importance has been given to the essay writing task and majority of the IIMs are conducting it in their admission process.
