Hyderabad magistrate chooses unique way to punish a stalker
A 39-year old man, who was stalking his own relative with phones, missed calls and messages from different numbers, got a unique punishment to stand at the always busy traffic junction wearing a placard creating awareness against eve teasing.

MA Raheem, 39, a private employee in Secunderabad, was given a placard with the slogan ”End it now… Stop Eve Teasing” of the SHE Teams (She Teams are meant to ensure safety of women in Hyderabad by checking eve teasing, stalking and all sorts of harassment to women) and was asked to stand at the busy junction at Gun Park opposite the state Legislative Assembly.

A woman recently approached the SHE teams deputy commissioner Swati Lakra seeking protection from Raheem, who had been harassing her with phones and messages from different unknown numbers. The women, who did not want to lodge a formal complaint, said she had changed her numbers to escape the harassment but Raheem managed to get all her new numbers and continued pestering. When she gave up using mobile, he used to make calls on her husband’s mobile asking him to put him to her. “This has created disturbances in the family,” Swati Lakra said.

As the victim was reluctant to file a first information report (FIR), the SHE teams cops registered a petty case against Raheem and produced him before the IV special metropolitan magistrate court at Nampally, which awarded him this punishment.
