According to James O'Brien (2008) system is a group of related components, working together to achieve a
common goal to receive input and produce output in an orderly transformation process. Information is data

8. should plan product (Production Plans) so that they will always be available any kind of seasoning is
needed by the various variants of instant noodles. At the same time, they must maintain a minimum
inventory in the warehouse. Only ERP applications that can make it can be arranged and scheduled as well
as possible.
Of Planning and Control of Production, through the need for forecasting and intelligence business, Indofood
entrust SAP R / 3 as the ERP solution, SAP Advance plannerand Optimizer (SAP APO) as a solution
Supply Chain Management (SCM) and mySAP Business Intelligence with SAP Business Information
Warehouse (SAPBW ).
When selecting the platform of the ERP system, Indofood see 3 for criteria such as reliability, scalability and
ease of management. By looking at the criteria, elected as the IBM iSeries hardware platform being used.
iSeries has security, skalability and cost efficiency in mendukup SAP, and help the company Indofood
maximize the value of SAP solutions. When Indofood expand the core of the system SAP R / 3 to enter
BWdan SAP SAP APO, nothing is unquestionable to replace the server platform. SAP Data is stored and
managed by IBM BD2 Database Management. iSeries has gone very well, and we have the basic
capabilities of OS / 400. Therefore, a logical choice if we still maintain this technology from IBM. iSeries
provides virtually trouble-free operation, and provided everything we needed in accordance with kriteriakami
namely scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
4.2. Factors of success are:
1. Adjust Consumer Interests.
In order to obtain outstanding production efficiency and maximize revenue, Indofood must be observant to
see the desires of consumers as possible at a time when that will come. By using SAP solutions, Indofood
dapatmenganalisis data transactions in detail, to see a change in the pattern yangterjadi consumer interest
and then respond effectively. "For example, we can analyze the information most sense of any laristerjual in
Sukabumi town or taste anything that does not sell well in Sibolga, so that we can deliver the type of instant
noodles taste right place to go to, so it will increase the potential for sales. SAP provides detailed
information very quickly where it is a vital business advantages, "said Gunawan. Sales information provides
input into SAP APO, where he will provide regular information on what products are to be produced, in what
quantity and where the factory will be produced.
2. Information Distribution
While the data provided by SAP R / 3 and SAP APO systems are very important for production planning
and inventory control in the operational part, middle management and executive teams do not need the raw
transaction data. Gunawan said, "What they need is information ikeseluruhan hit business performance,
cash flow, and some things operational detail. To improve the accuracy and timely management
summaries, kamimengimplementasikan SAP BW in July 2003. The application can provide highly detailed
information, such as how to pack the actual enumeration Indomie chicken curry flavor that is sold in an area
during a given period.
3. Downstream Systems Integration
With world-class ERP system, Indofood has started to plan ahead, aiming to expand its operations and
increase cost efficiency. "One of the goals of our business today is to group-pelangan our customers with
more accurate, then serves each respective group according to their interests respectively. "Gunawan said.
"We will work more closely with distributors to retailers. This will allow us to increase our capacity planning
and helps us improve efficiency and reduce costs. Some distributors Indofood, as Indomarco, is also in the
process of ERP pengembangansistem them, and can extend to their retailers. The plan is to integrate the
system between partner companies in order to smoothen the process of e-commerce. It is clear, that the
open computing platform is an absolute diperlukan.untuk support downstream system integration, which will
enable interoperability aplikasitermasuk legacy systems and realtime data streams through a variety of ERP
systems.
9. 4. Document Archiving
Finally Indofood also simplify the filing system, using IBM Content Manager CommonStore for SAP. This
software acts as archiving integrated data management and distribution solutions, integrating document
SAP and non-SAP into a single archive to maximize system efficiency and reduce administrative costs.
"By using IBM Content Manager CommonStore for SAP, we were able to reduce the storage requirements
