Excise Dept files 104 FIRs

Chandigarh: The Excise Department has seized 55,800 litres of ‘lahan’, 24,392 litres of illicit liquor and 13,872 litres of licit liquor and registered 104 FIRs across the state since the enforcement of the model code of conduct. “The campaign is aimed at deterring bootleggers, smugglers and anti-social elements, who tend to thrive at the expense of legitimate liquor contractors,” said Gurtej Singh, Additional Excise and Taxation Commissioner (Excise) and State Nodal Officer for the department. — TNS
