The vanish wishlist

Amongst several wishes for the new year, here is one listing the actors we do not wish to see on screen in 2017

Ameesha Patel

Ameesha refuses to give up even though she knows that the audience gave up on her long time ago. We lost the Ameesha of Kaho Na Pyaar Hai and Gadar: Ek Prem Katha due to bad career choices. She shone occasionally in films like Bhool Bhulaiya , Honeymoon Travels etc. Her limited acting skills did not come to her rescue either, so she decided to strike us with item songs and random videos on Instagram showing her having a shower. Not to forget gems such as Shortcut Romeo , Desi Magic, Chatur Singh Two Star in between. In 2017, the actor is threatening us with Bhaiyyaji Superhit with Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta. The film is produced by her production house.

Tushar Kapoor.

Tushar Kapoor.

Tussar Kapoor

Tussar might have taken good decisions in his personal life (became a single parent to a baby boy Lakshya who was born through surrogacy) but on the professional front, he could not follow the same path. And, it is poor us, the audience, who pay a price for it by being subjected to the Kya Kool Hai Hum series. Produced by Tussar’s production house Balaji Films, his sister and mother – Ekta and Shobha Kapoor – ensure that the audience don’t get away without an annual dose of multi-starrer sex comedies. Kya Kool Hai Hum 4 will certainly come our way soon. There is another unforgettable series, Golmaal , which uses his absent acting skills to the hilt. Wish his career boasted more films such as Shor In The City, Shootout at Lokhandwala etc.

Chunky Pandey

God save us from Chunky Pandey. From a hero in the 90s to the comedian today, Chunky tried to rediscover himself but hamming did not help his cause. He promised us the moon as Babban in Tezaab (1988) and delivered some memorable films. He lost the plot when he decided to make us laugh with lines like “I am joking” as Aakhri Pasta in Housefull .

Aftab Shivdasani

What an incredible journey Aftab has made from being an endearing child actor to a partner in crime in films such as the Masti series. The dimpled actor did look promising in Mast, Kasoor, Darna Mana Hai but as soon as he decided to use just one or two silly expressions, Indra Kumar claimed him for adult comedy series. And we did not know how to endure them.

Himesh Reshammiya

2011 - Aap Ka Suroor; 2016 - Tera Suroor

“Humse ka bhool huyi jo ye saja humka mili”...everytime I think of Himesh acting in a movie, this song rings in my ears. As a music composer, Himesh has delivered some memorable numbers. I love his nasal voice and ishtyle too. But it takes a lot to see him act. It is not as if we didn’t try. Some of us did watch Karzzz (remake of the super-duper hit Karz) and still once in a while, I do hum “Tak tana tana Tandoori Nights”. But I have to admit it is difficult to recover from the after effects of his acting skills be it in Radio , A New Love Ishtory or The Expose .

And last year Himesh came up with Tera Suroor , which was loosely based on The Next Three Days. He is working on a new project for 2017. Noooooooooo!

Uday Chopra

Remember Mohabbatein, Dhoom , Neal ’n’ Nikki and other such fiascos? Good if you do not because you shouldn’t relive the torture. Right from his first film Mohabbatein , his wide mouth and zilch acting talent got to our nerves. Charas, Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai, Pyaar Impossible ...the brother of Aditya Chopra - who has directed one of the biggest Bollywood blockbusters ever Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge – tried his luck at the cost of our sanity but did not succeed. Though after Dhoom 3 , he announced quitting acting but what if he decided to make a comeback in Dhoom 4, 5, or 6 !? We desperately wish for YRF Entertainment (which is producing Hollywood films) and Yomics (new label of comics) to do well.

P.S: One hears there is an unreleased film of Celina Jaitley as well. The film Run Bhola Run also features Ameesha Patel, Upen Patel and Tussar Kapoor. Now, that’s cruel!
