In a tragic incident, three Malappuram natives were charred to death in a raging fire that broke out at Kalba in Sharjah on Friday.

MALAPPURAM: In a tragic incident, three Malappuram natives were charred to death in a raging fire that broke out at Kalba in Sharjah on Friday.

The deceased have been identified as Hussain Valanchery, of Kurkathani, Nisamuddeen alias Mani, from Valanchery, and Shohaib from Thalakadathur, all hailing from Malappuram district.

Sources said the fire broke out at a furniture manufacturing unit being run by Edakkulam native Majeed. The fire first blazed through the manufacturing unit and then latched to a nearby cottage where the deceased had been staying.

According the reports, as many as 13 persons were staying in the cottage when it caught the deadly fire. Friday being a holiday for Sharjah residents, many of the occupants were sleeping during the incident. However, 10 of them ran to safety through ventilator hole.
