RAWALPINDI: Rawa-lpindi City Traffic Police (CTP) issued 630,948 challan tickets with fines amounting to over Rs 230 million on traffic rules violators during 2016. According to Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), Yousaf Ali Shahid, the CTP to ensure smooth flow of traffic on city roads impounded 2140 vehicles in various police stations on severe traffic rules violations while a number of drivers were also arrested during the period. The CTO said action was taken against the traffic rules violators in Rawalpindi city, Murree, Kotli Sattian, Taxila, Gujar Khan, Kalar Syedan and Kahuta tehsils. 15,363 tinted glass vehicles were challaned and black papers were removed on the spot. 19,868 without registration vehicles and motorcycles were imposed fines while 95,980 without number plate vehicles and 119,865 vehicles having improper number plates were challaned.
