Stone for NDRF battalion premises

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will lay the foundation stone for the new campus of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) at Kondapavuluru in Krishna district on January 9, according to an official release.

The campus will house the 10th battalion of the NDRF, which is mandated to come to the rescue of people during disasters, in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka.

This unit has responded to various disasters such as cyclone Phailin, Hudhud and Vardah and floods.

The battalion has been stationed at Acharya Nagarjuna University since November 15, 2011. The Government allotted 50 acres in Krishna district for construction of its campus. It will have residential quarters for the NDRF personnel and a world-class training area.
