Rape survivor shifted to neurosurgery department of SMS hospital

The 15-year-old girl, who was alleged gangraped and brutally injured, has been shifted from rehabilitation research centre (RRC) of Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital to its neurosurgery department for operation of her spinal injuries.

JAIPUR: The 15-year-old girl, who was alleged gangraped and brutally injured, has been shifted from rehabilitation research centre (RRC) of Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital to its neurosurgery department for operation of her spinal injuries.
After the surgery, she would be given thoracic support brace so that she will be able to sit.
The girl was allegedly gangraped in a village in Churu on December 24.
However, Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital doctors are taking all measures to help her in doing daily activities by her own. “It will be a long journey of recovery for her now. But, we will help her in recovery. First of all, we will help her to sit by using thoracic support brace after the surgery,” Dr Sunil Goenka, professor (RRC), SMS Hospital said.
Dr Goenka said that surgery of her spine would likely to happen on Friday. “Self-recovery of spine was not possible in the case. There was a need for surgery for fixing dislocated spine. Our first aim is to make the girl independent at the RRC,” he said.
As of now, the priority of the doctors is to repair the spine, which suffered severe injury on the intermediate night of December 24-25.
The girl was brought to the SMS Hospital on December 27 with severe injuries. The doctors immediately admitted her to RRC. Now, he has been shifted to neurosurgery. After operation of her spine, she would be shifted from neurosurgery to RRC for her rehabilitation.
Girl’s father had alleged that the two accused who alleged gangraped her and dumped her on Charla road connecting Saransar with Sujangarh.
The girl also suffered injury above one of her eyes. She received 13 stitches to repair the injury.
