Wuxi will build a new highway connecting the city's Taihu Highway with Qianhuang, a transport hub in Changzhou.
A land expropriation agreement signed by Wuxi's transport bureau and Wuxi Taihu National Tourist Resort Management Committee last week marked the official launch of the engineering project.
The 15 billion yuan ($2.2 billion) project will stretch 43.9 kilometers in total. The 22.4 kilometers built in Wuxi will be the city's largest-scale highway construction project to date. The construction is expected to begin within this year.
