Treasury official in ACB net

Senior Accountant of the District Treasury Department, G. Srinivas (36) was caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for demanding and accepting a bribe amount of Rs. 6,000 from a government junior lecturer, here on Wednesday.

According to DSP of ACB Kinjarapu Ramakrishna Prasad, the junior lecturer from the Government Junior College, Pendurthi, who was regularised into service about six months ago, had his salary bill pending for six months.The bill was cleared by the tribunal and had come to treasury for payment. When the lecturer approached the Senior Accountant demanded Rs. 8,000 for releasing his salary bill.

Later, it was negotiated for Rs. 6,000 and he received the bribe on Wednesday, when he was caught by the ACB team, said Mr. Ramakrishna Prasad.

He will be arrested and produced before the ACB court on Thursday.

This was the third consecutive trap case by ACB. On Monday, the Revenue Inspector of Bheemunipatnam B. Srinivasa Rao was arrested for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 25,000 from a farmer converting his 50 cents of agricultural land into non-agriculture land. And on Tuesday the Revenue Inspector of Munagapaka A. Shubhadra was arrested for accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000 from a farmer for mutation of revenue records of the farmer and recording it in his pattadar passbook.
