New Ri Ra addition pays homage to bordellos of the past

Celebrating five years of the Irish pub experience, Rí Rá in Mandalay Place unveils the Bordello, a new event and dining space located at the back of the bar, accessed through a secluded hallway. The addition expands the restaurant to 11,000 square feet.

Paying homage to the classic high-end bordellos of years past, the Bordello features high black ceilings, plush velvet curtains along the entryways, Victorian crimson and gold interiors, lounge-style furniture and soft, low lighting. Handcrafted chandeliers, a glistening disco ball and black and white movie stills inside antique gold frames add to the quirky yet historic atmosphere.

The Bordello “conjures up feelings of opulence, indulgence and luxury,” general manager Scott Sherman told the Vegas Guide. “It is a perfect place for social gatherings, wedding receptions, networking events, corporate meetings and sports viewings.”

The hidden gem seats up to 64 dining guests and can accommodate up to 100 people. Visitors interested in booking the room will have access to amenities like a full-service bar, a 52-inch TV, an open area for a dance floor and a 170-inch drop down projector screen. Catering options including plated dinners, buffets and cocktail receptions are also available.

The Bordello does not charge a room rental fee. Instead, food and beverage minimum purchases apply and vary throughout the year.

“It is more than a place to get a bite to eat or to stop for a quick drink,” Sherman said.

Outside the Bordello, Rí Rá remains a bustling hot spot with live entertainment, 150 scotches and more than 40 Irish whiskeys on the menu. Earlier this year, the pub launched its $22 afternoon tea menu offering a variety of leaf teas, finger sandwiches, homemade scones and decadent desserts. And in 2014, Rí Rá broke the Guinness World Record for “Longest Concert for Multiple Artists.”

“Over the years, the Las Vegas location has become one of the most successful of Rí Rá’s nine pubs in the United States,” Sherman said.
