Desperate to get a Nobel Prize, Chandrababu Naidu offers Rs 100 cr prize for winners

Tirupati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday put before Telugu scientists a bumper prize of Rs 100 crore for a researcher who brings India a Noble Prize in science.

Naidu made this offer at the ongoing 104th Indian Science Congress at Sri Venkateswara University in Tirupati. Desperate for a Noble, Naidu said any Telugu scientist working anywhere in India is eligible for the reward. He asked Noble laureate professor Takaaki Kajita of Japan to give the Telugu scientists tips to win a Noble prize. "Hard work. Hard work. Hard work" is the tip that the Noble laureate Kajita gave.

Union Minister of State for Science and Technology YS Chowdary asked Tessy Thomas, who heads the Agni-IV missile in Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), to try for a Noble.

Naidu said Telugus, in particular, and Indians, in general, had exhibited their talents in every field including sports but are yet to prove their talent in science. "Indians working in foreign lands have won the Noble Prize. But we want those working in their mother land to win it and make India proud," he said.

Naidu made the same offer to children at the inaugural of Children's Science Congress.
