Nabha Natesh’s got a good debut with Vajrakaya, directed by Harsha and starring Shivarajkumar, but the actress took a while to sign on her second film. Still much-loved as the Pataka girl, Nabha is now waiting for her next Lee.

The actress, in conversation with City Express, says that the long gap between films was a thought- out decision. “I chose to wait because the roles I was being offered were similar to Vajrakaya’s. Most of the filmmakers wanted to see me as the Pataka girl, but I didn’t want to be typecast.

I wanted to try something new and ended up waiting for long. Thankfully the role I was offered in Lee is different,” she says.
Lee, written and directed by HM Srinandan, is produced by Sarathy Sathish, Darshan Krishna and Vinay SB.

The actress says that Pataka of Vajrakaya was more fictional a character, while her role in Lee is realistic. She says,

“It is the girl-next-door and has a comic edge. More importantly, this role has allowed me to express another side of me. The transit from a loud Pataka to a simple girl was challenging. I had to work mainly on my mannerisms.”

Lee is all about a martial art form ishu. “It is a mix of karate, kung-fu, but that was only for the hero,” Nabha says. “I play a proper commercial heroine with romance and dance and comedy, exactly a role I wanted to do,” she says.

Two years in the industry and Nabha says that it has treated her well. “Even while I was establishing myelf here, I was working on making a mark in other industries too. I did a Telugu film under one of the biggest banners, Suresh Production, and it went really well.

I am soon to sign my second one and am also in talks for a Tamil film. Meanwhile, I did a special song in Manoranjan’s Saheba, which is a great thing for me, because it is for one of Ravichandran’s films and happens to be introductory sequence for his son in Saheba,” says Nabha, adding, “It is not about cramming in a lot of projects. I want to try different kinds of roles and involves a little more homework. For now, it is all about Lee and Sumanth Shailendra who is my co-star in the film.”
